Holiday Gifts for the Masses
How do you make a great gift for one a great gift for all? This is the struggle that so many companies face each and every year. While the answer is multifaceted, the way to execute is fairly simple. The answer is in the audience. The gift you give to employees at a female-dominant catering company is not going to be the same as a gift for the crew at a construction company. That said, with both audiences, recent studies have found that employees prefer a gift that they can share amongst themselves and their families, over branded things that are solely for them. Like with all things, there is a balance, but part of the communal gift is acknowledging the person’s life outside the bubble in which you know each other. With client gifts, this may be more difficult, but consumables and home goods are slick aces to hold in your back pocket.
Whether you outsource the work of organizing holiday gifts to a company, like Our Favorite Things, or are doing them in-house, it is always smart to give yourself just a little extra time. Honestly, this applies to any large batch of gifts – thinking up the gift, sourcing the items and waiting for them to all come in takes time. Of course, there is often overnight shipping, but better safe than sorry. This also allows for a buffer to package them nicely, remain organized and make sure that all the recipients are accounted for! Of course, if you go through us, you don’t have to lift a finger…that list just becomes ours!
Another largely overlooks aspect, that specifically applies to the holidays, is exactly that: the holidays. Many reflexively choose Christmas themed items, but the reality is that not everyone is Christian, forget religious at all. We find that a simple “Happy Holidays” or “Seasons Greetings” evokes enough cheer without being specific to one group over another.
At the end of the day, any good gift just takes a modicum of thought, and we are always happy to provide!
